Disclosure: I am not a physician, and nothing here (except Ursodiol) has been FDA approved to treat or cure any disease. If you follow an part of my treatment plan, you do so at your own risk.
I have an undergraduate biology degree which has assisted me in a small way in my research effort. Outside of this, most of these objectives are based on research form PubMed and sometimes other less mainstream sources. I am always looking for improvement so please let me know of any comments or suggestions. I try to base as much of what am doing on at least some solid research and have tried to include relevant sources with each objective in the "Backing" section at the bottom. If you have any ideas, criticisms, or opinions, please feel free to share as I am by no means an expert and will always be open to new ideas. Also please let me know if you believe I made any errors on the below information.
1. Ursodiol
The only approved medication for Primary Billiary Cirrhosis (or "PBC").
2. Psyllium Hydrophillic Mucilloid (Konsyl, Metamucil, etc.) [~3.25 grams 3 times daily with water]
Increased serum concentration of ursodeoxycholic acid by ~70% in in 5 patients with PBC over 6 weeks with 3.25 grams administered three times daily. The study's original aim was to test if psyllium hydrophillic mucilloid lowered levels of lithocholic acid. Since concentration of ursodeoxycholic acid was increased, the relative concentration of lithocolic acid was still lowered. It is important to take this supplement with water.
